History
The Knights of Columbus was founded 1882 by the Venerable Father Michael J. McGivney a local parish priest at St. Mary's Parish in New Haven, Connecticut.
In 1995 Father Ken Marks Pastor of St. Benedict's asked a Knight in the parish how do we start a Knights of Columbus Council here at St. Benedict's Parish?
On May 30, 1995 St. Benedict Council 11590 was established at St. Benedict's Parish with THIRTY MEMBERS including Father Marks. Today St. Benedict Council has over ONE HUNDRED AND EIGHTY members including Father Norton the Pastor.
St. Benedict's Council works closely with St. Benedict's Parish, holding Parish Blood Drives (five per year) First Holy Communion Recipients Mass & Breakfast, Christmas Scene and Tree Lighting each year, Supporting our Seminarians, offering Scholarships to Our Schools Eight Grade Graduates.
Additionally, St. Benedict Council 11590 participates in the New York Chapter Charity Drive (for the benefit of Calvary Hospital), the St. Patrick's Day and Veterans Day Parades and numerous other Charity and Community events

Interested Practical Catholic Men eighteen years or older can join the Knights of Columbus as an On Line Member.
On Line Members are Associate Members of the Knights of Columbus in the New York State Council who will receive a Membership Card signed by Carl A. Anderson the Supreme Knight.
New On Line Member will have the ability to purchase Knights of Columbus Insurance, and to Transfer their On Line Membership to a local council. For more information please click on
